The Lily Pond
Your turn begins at The Lily Pond.
Roll two dice for what you encounter while at the lily pond:
2 = A truly gigantic toad briefly surfaces from under the water and attempts to swallow you whole. Fight a Melee Combat with an under toad. The under toad's attributes are Arms: 7, Magic: 3, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1. If you receive a Wound due to Melee Combat with the under toad, receive 1 additional Wound. After a Melee Combat with the under toad, you must choose to end Combat when given the choice.
3 = A trio of magical singing frogs recite to you a spell unique to their kind. If you choose, gain leap. Leap is a Spell. Leap may be used after any Combat when you are instructed that you cannot choose to end Combat with the monster in that Combat. When used, Combat ends with that monster.
4 = The incessant croaking of the frogs of this pond can cause confusion and impede concentration. Roll a die if you have 1 or more Spells. If the die roll is greater than your Magic, lose 1 Spell of your choice.
5 = A frog of very large size leaps out in front of you. Fight a Magical Combat with a giant frog. The giant frog's attributes are Arms: 1, Magic: 5, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1.
6 = A frog of large size comes leaping your way across the lily pads. Fight a Magical Combat with a large frog. The large frog's attributes are Arms: 1, Magic: 3, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1.
7 = This rather large pond has many lily pads, many toads, and many frogs, all of various sizes. Roll a die. If the die roll is 1, 2, or 3, fight a Melee Combat with a toad. The toad's attributes are Arms: 1, Magic: 1, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1. If the die roll is 4, 5, or 6, fight a Magical Combat with a frog. The frog's attributes are Arms: 1, Magic: 1, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1.
8 = A toad of large size comes hopping your way across the lily pads. Fight a Melee Combat with a large toad. The large toad's attributes are Arms: 3, Magic: 1, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1.
9 = A toad of very large size hops out in front of you. Fight a Melee Combat with a giant toad. The giant toad's attributes are Arms: 5, Magic: 1, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1.
10 = You slip on the surface of a giant lily pad and fall into the pond water. Roll a die if you have 1 or more Items. If the die roll is greater than your Arms, lose 1 Item of your choice.
11 = Upon a giant lily pad is a palace made of green stone that has been shaped into the form of a giant toad. If you choose, your turn ends and the next turn will begin at The Toad Palace; Proceed to that page if so.
12 = A squat, ugly little man who has mastered toad magic rules over the frogs of this pond of lilies. Roll a die. If the die roll is 1, 2, or 3, fight a Magical Combat with a toad master. If the die roll is 4, 5, or 6, fight a Melee Combat with a toad master. The toad master's attributes are Arms: 6, Magic: 6, Craft: 4, Vitae: 3. At the start of any Combat the toad master is in, roll a die. If the die roll is 1 or 2, fight a Melee Combat with a servant toad first. If the die roll is 5 or 6, fight a Magical Combat with a servant toad first. The servant toad's attribute's are Arms: 4, Magic: 4, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1. You cannot end Combat with the servant toad unless it has fallen. If the servant toad has fallen due to Combat with you, the Combat with you and the toad master occurs. If the toad master has fallen due to Combat with you, gain a toad amulet. A toad amulet is an Item. If you have the toad amulet at the start of any Combat with a monster with the word 'toad' or 'frog' in it's name, increase your Arms and Magic by 1 for that Combat only. You may not use more than 1 toad amulet at a time.
Unless you rolled an 11 and went to The Toad Palace, after your encounter at the lily pond, you must choose between staying at The Lily Pond or going back to The Bridge. If you choose to stay at The Lily Pond, your turn ends and the next turn will begin at The Lily Pond; Stay on this page if so. If you choose to go to The Bridge, your turn ends and the next turn will begin on The Bridge; Proceed to that page if so.
