The Goblin Caves

Your turn begins in The Goblin Caves.

If you are a dwarf, increase your Arms and Magic by 1 for this turn only.


Roll two dice for what you encounter while exploring the goblin caves:


2 = The eldest of the goblins guards an elven-forged sword that is bane to all goblinkind. Fight a Magical Combat with the goblin elder. The goblin elder's attributes are Arms: 4, Magic: 6, Craft: 4, Vitae: 3. At the start of any Magical Combat the goblin elder is in, roll a die. If the die roll is less than the goblin elder's Magic, fight a Melee Combat with a servant goblin first. The servant goblin's attribute's are Arms: 2, Magic: 2, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1. You cannot end Combat with the servant goblin unless it has fallen. If the servant goblin has fallen due to Combat with you, the Combat with you and the goblin elder occurs. If the goblin elder has fallen due to Magical Combat with you, gain a goblinslayer sword, unless you have a goblinslayer sword. A goblinslayer sword is an Item and a weapon. If you have the goblinslayer sword at the start of any Combat, increase your Arms and Magic by 1 for that Combat only. If you have the goblinslayer sword at the start of any Melee Combat with a monster with the word 'goblin' or 'hobgoblin' in it's name, increase your Arms and Magic by an additional 1 for that Combat only. If you have the goblinslayer sword and a monster with the word 'goblin' or 'hobgoblin' in it's name receives a Wound due to Combat with you, that monster receives 1 additional Wound.


3 = A goblin priest of the rogue gobbo tribe offers to teach you some goblin magic. If you choose, roll a die. If the die roll is less than your Magic, or if you pay 1 Gold, gain gobbo. Gobbo is a Spell. You may use gobbo at the start of your turn or at the start of a Combat. If you use gobbo at the start of a Combat, increase your Arms and Magic by 1 for each Ally you have with the word 'Gobbo' in it's name for that Combat only. If you use gobbo at the start of a turn, gain a gobbo goblin. A gobbo goblin is an Ally. If you have a gobbo goblin at the start of any Combat, you may choose to have the monster in that Combat with you fight a Combat with the gobbo goblin first. The kind of Combat the gobbo goblin fights with the monster will be of the same kind you would have fought with the monster. The gobbo goblin's attributes are Arms: 2, Magic: 2, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1. If the monster has fallen due to Combat with the gobbo goblin, the Combat with you does not occur and you gain the appropriate XP as though the monster had fallen due to Combat with you. If the gobbo goblin has fallen due to Combat with the monster, lose the gobbo goblin, then the Combat with you and the monster occurs, with the monster retaining any Wounds it received due to Combat with the gobbo goblin. If neither the gobbo goblin nor the monster has fallen due to the Combat between them, the Combat with you and the monster occurs, with the monster retaining any Wounds it received due to Combat with the gobbo goblin. 


4 = Guarding the way to the tunnels of trolls is a lone goblin sentinel. If you choose, fight a Melee Combat with a goblin guard. The goblin guard's attributes are Arms: 3, Magic: 1, Craft: 1, Vitae: 2. If the goblin guard has fallen due to Combat with you, your turn ends and the next turn will begin in The Troll Tunnels; Proceed to that page if so.


5 = Rocks come tumbling down as a cave-in occurs above you. Roll a die. If the die roll is greater than your Arms, receive 1 Wound.


6 = A wandering goblin warrior spots you exploring within these caves. Fight a Melee Combat with a war goblin. The war goblin's attributes are Arms: 3, Magic: 1, Craft: 1, Vitae: 2.


7 = Sometimes you will stumble upon gold in these caves, but most of the time it will be goblins you find. Roll a die. If the die roll is 1, gain 1 Gold. If the die roll is 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6, fight a Melee Combat with a cave goblin. The cave goblin's attributes are Arms: 2, Magic: 1, Craft: 1, Vitae: 2.


8 = A roaming goblin wizard has sensed your entry into these caves. Fight a Magical Combat with a wiz goblin. The wiz goblin's attributes are Arms: 1, Magic: 3, Craft: 1, Vitae: 2.


9 = You enter a cave that has been hexed by the goblin priesthood. Roll a die. If the die roll is greater than your Magic, receive 1 Wound.


10 = You can try to sneak past a lone goblin guard and into a huge tunnel system full of trolls. If you choose, roll a die. If the die roll is equal to or less than your Craft, your turn ends and the next turn will begin in The Troll Tunnels; Proceed to that page if so. If the die roll is greater than your Craft, fight a Melee Combat with a guard goblin. The guard goblin's attributes are Arms: 3, Magic: 1, Craft: 1, Vitae: 2.


11 = You may attempt to enlist the aid of a rogue goblin known as a gobbo. If you choose, roll a die. If the die roll is less than your Arms, or if you pay 1 Gold, gain a gobbo goblin. A gobbo goblin is an Ally. If you have a gobbo goblin at the start of any Combat, you may choose to have the monster in that Combat with you fight a Combat with the gobbo goblin first. The kind of Combat the gobbo goblin fights with the monster will be of the same kind you would have fought with the monster. The gobbo goblin's attributes are Arms: 2, Magic: 2, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1. If the monster has fallen due to Combat with the gobbo goblin, the Combat with you does not occur and you gain the appropriate XP as though the monster had fallen due to Combat with you. If the gobbo goblin has fallen due to Combat with the monster, lose the gobbo goblin, then the Combat with you and the monster occurs, with the monster retaining any Wounds it received due to Combat with the gobbo goblin. If neither the gobbo goblin nor the monster has fallen due to the Combat between them, the Combat with you and the monster occurs, with the monster retaining any Wounds it received due to Combat with the gobbo goblin.


12 = Sitting on his small throne and surrounded by his many servants is the king of the goblins. Fight a Melee Combat with the goblin king. The goblin king's attributes are Arms: 6, Magic: 4, Craft: 3, Vitae: 3. At the start of any Melee Combat the goblin king is in, roll a die. If the die roll is less than the goblin king's Arms, fight a Magical Combat with a goblin servant first. The goblin servant's attribute's are Arms: 2, Magic: 2, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1. You cannot end Combat with the goblin servant unless it has fallen. If the goblin servant has fallen due to Combat with you, the Combat with you and the goblin king occurs. If the goblin king has fallen due to Melee Combat with you, gain a goblin crown, unless you have a goblin crown. A goblin crown is an Item. If you have a goblin crown at the start of any Melee Combat, you may choose to roll a die. If the die roll is less than your Arms, the monster in that Melee Combat must fight a Magical Combat with a goblin servitor first. The goblin servitor's attributes are Arms: 2, Magic: 2, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1. If the monster has fallen due to Combat with the goblin servitor, the Combat with you does not occur and you gain Magical XP as though the monster had fallen due to Combat with you. If the goblin servitor has fallen due to Combat with the monster, then the Combat with you and the monster occurs, with the monster retaining any Wounds it received due to Combat with the goblin servitor. If neither the goblin servitor nor the monster has fallen due to the Combat between them, another Magical Combat with the goblin servitor and the monster occurs, with the monster retaining any Wounds it received due to Combat with the goblin servitor. If you have a goblin crown at the start of any Magical Combat, you may choose to roll a die. If the die roll is less than your Magic, the monster in that Magical Combat must fight a Melee Combat with a servitor goblin first. The servitor goblin's attributes are Arms: 2, Magic: 2, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1. If the monster has fallen due to Combat with the servitor goblin, the Combat with you does not occur and you gain Melee XP as though the monster had fallen due to Combat with you. If the servitor goblin has fallen due to Combat with the monster, then the Combat with you and the monster occurs, with the monster retaining any Wounds it received due to Combat with the servitor goblin. If neither the servitor goblin nor the monster has fallen due to the Combat between them, another Melee Combat with the servitor goblin and the monster occurs, with the monster retaining any Wounds it received due to Combat with the servitor goblin. You may not use any other Item with the word 'helmet', 'helm', 'hat', 'tiara', or 'crown' in it's name if you have the goblin crown.


Unless you rolled a 4 or 10 and went to The Troll Tunnels, after your goblin caves encounter ends, you must choose between staying in The Goblin Caves or going back to The Mountains. If you choose to stay in The Goblin Caves, your turn ends and the next turn will begin in The Goblin Caves; Stay on this page if so. If you choose to return to The Mountains, your turn ends and the next turn will begin in The Mountains; Proceed to that page if so.
