The Butterfly Ridge

Roll two dice for what you encounter while exploring the butterfly ridge:
2 = Looming larger than most, yet still a small butterfly, comes fluttering a bizarre creature of chaos. Roll a die. If the die roll is 1, 3, or 5, fight a Melee Combat with a chaos butterfly. If the die roll is 2, 4, or 6, fight a Magical Combat with a chaos butterfly. The chaos butterfly's attributes are Arms: 7, Magic: 7, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1. At the start of any Combat the chaos butterfly is in, roll a die. If the die roll is 1, increase the chaos butterfly's Arms by 3 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 2, increase the chaos butterfly's Arms by 2 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 3, increase the chaos butterfly's Arms by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 4, increase the chaos butterfly's Magic by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 5, increase the chaos butterfly's Magic by 2 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 6, increase the chaos butterfly's Magic by 3 for that Combat only. If the chaos butterfly receives a Wound, roll two dice. If the die roll is 8 or less, the chaos butterfly does not receive the Wound. If the chaos butterfly has fallen due to Combat with you, gain a butterfly pendant, unless you have a butterfly pendant. A butterfly pendant is an Item. If you have the butterfly pendant at the start of any Combat, you may choose to roll a die. If the die roll is 1, 3, or 5, the monster in that Combat must fight a Combat of the same kind with a servitor butterfly first. The servitor butterfly's attributes are Arms: 1, Magic: 1, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1. At the start of any Combat the servitor butterfly is in, roll a die. If the die roll is 1, increase the servitor butterfly's Arms by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 2, increase the servitor butterfly's Arms by 2 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 3, increase the servitor butterfly's Arms by 3 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 4, increase the servitor butterfly's Magic by 3 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 5, increase the servitor butterfly's Magic by 2 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 6, increase the servitor butterfly's Magic by 1 for that Combat only. If the servitor butterfly receives a Wound, roll two dice. If the die roll is 5 or less, the servitor butterfly does not receive the Wound. If the monster has fallen due to Combat with the servitor butterfly, the Combat with you does not occur and you gain the appropriate XP as though the monster had fallen due to Combat with you. If the servitor butterfly has fallen due to Combat with the monster, then the Combat with you and the monster occurs, with the monster retaining any Wounds it received due to Combat with the servitor butterfly. If neither the servitor butterfly nor the monster has fallen due to the Combat between them, another Combat with the servitor butterfly and the monster occurs, with the monster retaining any Wounds it received due to Combat with the servitor butterfly.
3 = You marvel at a rare butterfly which has every color of the rainbow on it's wings. Roll a die. If the die roll is 1, 3, or 5, fight a Melee Combat with a rainbow butterfly. If the die roll is 2, 4, or 6, fight a Magical Combat with a rainbow butterfly. The rainbow butterfly's attributes are Arms: 5, Magic: 5, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1. At the start of any Combat the rainbow butterfly is in, roll a die. If the die roll is 1, increase the rainbow butterfly's Arms and Magic by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 2, increase the rainbow butterfly's Arms by 2 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 3, increase the rainbow butterfly's Arms by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 4, increase the rainbow butterfly's Magic by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 5, increase the rainbow butterfly's Magic by 2 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 6, increase the rainbow butterfly's Arms and Magic by 2 for that Combat only. If the rainbow butterfly receives a Wound, roll two dice. If the die roll is 6 or less, the rainbow butterfly does not receive the Wound. If the rainbow butterfly has fallen due to Combat with you, roll a die. If the die roll is 1, 2, 3, or 4, gain a butterfly wand. A butterfly wand is an Item and a weapon. If you have the butterfly wand at the start of any Magical Combat, roll a die. If the die roll is 1, increase your Magic by 3 for that Magical Combat only. If the die roll is 2 or 3, increase your Magic by 2 for that Magical Combat only. If the die roll is 4, 5, or 6, increase your Magic by 1 for that Magical Combat only.
4 = Nestled in a cocoon in a tree is tiny scroll with an incantation for butterfly magic on it. If you choose, roll two dice. If the die roll is equal to or less than the total of your Craft plus your Vitae, gain flutterby. Flutterby is a Spell. You may use flutterby at the start of any Combat if you do not have any Wounds. When used, your Vitae becomes 1 for that Combat only, then roll a die. If the die roll is 1, increase your Arms by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 2, increase your Magic by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 3, increase your Arms and Magic by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 4, increase your Arms by 2 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 5, increase your Magic by 2 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 6, increase your Arms and Magic by 2 for that Combat only. If you receive a Wound during the Combat that you used flutterby at the start of, roll two dice. If the die roll is 7 or less, you do not receive the Wound. You may not use more than 1 flutterby per Combat.
5 = A shiny butterfly made of iron comes fluttering your way. Roll a die. If the die roll is 1, 3, or 5, fight a Melee Combat with an iron butterfly. If the die roll is 2, 4, or 6, fight a Magical Combat with an iron butterfly. The iron butterfly's attributes are Arms: 3, Magic: 3, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1. At the start of any Combat the iron butterfly is in, roll a die. If the die roll is 1, increase the iron butterfly's Arms by 2 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 2 or 3, increase the iron butterfly's Arms by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 4 or 5, increase the iron butterfly's Magic by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 6, increase the iron butterfly's Magic by 2 for that Combat only. If the iron butterfly receives a Wound, roll two dice. If the die roll is 6 or more, the iron butterfly does not receive the Wound. If the iron butterfly has fallen due to Combat with you, roll a die. If the die roll is 1, gain 1 Gold.
6 = This ridge is a-flutter with all sorts of butterflies, with some more valuable than others. Roll a die. If the die roll is 1, 3, or 5, fight a Melee Combat with a ridge butterfly. If the die roll is 2, 4, or 6, fight a Magical Combat with a ridge butterfly. The ridge butterfly's attributes are Arms: 1, Magic: 1, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1. At the start of any Combat the ridge butterfly is in, roll a die. If the die roll is 1, 2, or 3, increase the ridge butterfly's Arms and Magic by 3 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 4 or 5, increase the ridge butterfly's Arms and Magic by 2 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 6, increase the ridge butterfly's Arms and Magic by 1 for that Combat only. If the ridge butterfly receives a Wound, roll two dice. If the die roll is 9 or more, the ridge butterfly does not receive the Wound. If the ridge butterfly has fallen due to Combat with you, roll two dice. If the die roll is 2, gain 1 Gold.
7 = Numerous butterfly hunters roam this ridge trying to catch anything that will fit in their nets. Roll a die. If the die roll is equal to or greater than your Vitae, roll a die. If that die roll is 1, 2, or 3, fight a Melee Combat with a butterfly collector. The butterfly collector's attributes are Arms: 4, Magic: 2, Craft: 2, Vitae: 2. If that die roll is 4, 5, or 6, fight a Magical Combat with a butterfly catcher. The butterfly catcher's attributes are Arms: 2, Magic: 4, Craft: 2, Vitae: 2.
8 = Many butterflies have come fluttering up from the island below to live on this ridge. Roll a die. If the die roll is 1, 3, or 5, fight a Melee Combat with an island butterfly. If the die roll is 2, 4, or 6, fight a Magical Combat with an island butterfly. The island butterfly's attributes are Arms: 2, Magic: 2, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1. At the start of any Combat the island butterfly is in, roll a die. If the die roll is 1, 2, or 3, increase the island butterfly's Arms and Magic by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 4 or 5, increase the island butterfly's Arms and Magic by 2 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 6, increase the island butterfly's Arms and Magic by 3 for that Combat only. If the island butterfly receives a Wound, roll two dice. If the die roll is 8 or more, the island butterfly does not receive the Wound. If the island butterfly has fallen due to Combat with you, roll two dice. If the die roll is 11, gain 1 Gold.
9 = A well-armed butterfly in a little suit of armor comes aggressively fluttering towards you. Roll a die. If the die roll is 1, 3, or 5, fight a Melee Combat with a battle butterfly. If the die roll is 2, 4, or 6, fight a Magical Combat with a battle butterfly. The battle butterfly's attributes are Arms: 4, Magic: 4, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1. At the start of any Combat the battle butterfly is in, roll a die. If the die roll is 1 or 2, increase the battle butterfly's Arms and Magic by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 3 or 4, increase the battle butterfly's Arms and Magic by 2 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 5 or 6, increase the battle butterfly's Arms and Magic by 3 for that Combat only. If the battle butterfly receives a Wound, roll two dice. If the die roll is 7 or more, the battle butterfly does not receive the Wound. If the battle butterfly has fallen due to Combat with you, roll a die. If the die roll is 1, gain 2 Gold.
10 = A caterpillar crawling on a tree branch tells you the words to a butterfly magic spell. If you choose, roll two dice. If the die roll is less than the total of your Craft plus your Vitae, gain betterfly. Betterfly is a Spell. You may use betterfly at the start of any turn if you do not have any Wounds. When used, your Vitae becomes 1 for that turn only. At the start of any Combat you are in during the turn that you used betterfly at the start of, roll a die. If the die roll is 1, increase your Arms by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 2, increase your Magic by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 3, increase your Arms and Magic by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 4, increase your Arms by 2 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 5, increase your Magic by 2 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 6, increase your Arms and Magic by 2 for that Combat only. If you receive a Wound during the turn that you used betterfly at the start of, roll two dice. If the die roll is 7 or less, you do not receive the Wound. You may not use more than 1 betterfly per turn.
11 = You are amazed at the rare appearance of a tiny dragon with butterfly wings. Roll a die. If the die roll is 1, 3, or 5, fight a Melee Combat with a dragon butterfly. If the die roll is 2, 4, or 6, fight a Magical Combat with a dragon butterfly. The dragon butterfly's attributes are Arms: 6, Magic: 6, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1. At the start of any Combat the iron butterfly is in, roll a die. If the die roll is 1, increase the dragon butterfly's Arms by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 2 or 3, increase the dragon butterfly's Arms and Magic by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 4 or 5, increase the dragon butterfly's Arms and Magic by 2 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 6, increase the dragon butterfly's Magic by 1 for that Combat only. If the dragon butterfly receives a Wound, roll two dice. If the die roll is 7 or less, the dragon butterfly does not receive the Wound. If the dragon butterfly has fallen due to Combat with you, roll a die. If the die roll is 1, 2, 3, or 4, gain a butterfly knife. A butterfly knife is an Item and a weapon. If you have the butterfly knife at the start of any Melee Combat, roll a die. If the die roll is 1, increase your Arms by 3 for that Melee Combat only. If the die roll is 2 or 3, increase your Arms by 2 for that Melee Combat only. If the die roll is 4, 5, or 6, increase your Arms by 1 for that Melee Combat only.
12 = A majestic butterfly in orange and black rules this tropical ridge high above the island. Roll a die. If the die roll is 1, 3, or 5, fight a Melee Combat with a monarch butterfly. If the die roll is 2, 4, or 6, fight a Magical Combat with a monarch butterfly. The monarch butterfly's attributes are Arms: 8, Magic: 8, Craft: 1, Vitae: 1. At the start of any Combat the monarch butterfly is in, roll a die. If the die roll is 1, increase the monarch butterfly's Arms by 2 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 2, increase the monarch butterfly's Arms by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 3 or 4, increase the monarch butterfly's Arms and Magic by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 5, increase the monarch butterfly's Magic by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 6, increase the monarch butterfly's Magic by 2 for that Combat only. If the monarch butterfly receives a Wound, roll two dice. If the die roll is 9 or less, the monarch butterfly does not receive the Wound. If the monarch butterfly has fallen due to Combat with you, gain a butterfly crown, unless you have a butterfly crown. A butterfly crown is an Item. If you have the butterfly crown at the start of any Combat and you do not have any Wounds, you may choose to have your Vitae become 1 for that Combat only. If so, roll a die. If the die roll is 1, increase your Arms by 2 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 2, increase your Arms by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 3 or 4, increase your Arms and Magic by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 5, increase your Magic by 1 for that Combat only. If the die roll is 6, increase your Magic by 2 for that Combat only. If you receive a Wound during the Combat that you used the butterfly crown at the start of, roll two dice. If the die roll is 8 or less, you do not receive the Wound. You may not use any other Item with the word 'shield', 'armor', 'plate', 'helmet', 'helm', 'hat', 'cloak', 'robe', 'robes', 'tiara', or 'crown' in it's name if you have the butterfly crown.
After your butterfly ridge encounter ends, you must choose between staying on The Butterfly Ridge or going back to The Island. If you choose to stay on The Butterfly Ridge, your turn ends and the next turn will begin on The Butterfly Ridge; Stay on this page if so.
